Get to know our company
GYSEV CARGO Zrt. began its independent operations in Hungary in 2011. However, our corporate group has been present in the European rail freight market since as early as 1872. Based on more than 150 years of experience, we have developed a comprehensive range of services that enable us to meet our clients' needs to the greatest possible extent.
In addition to operating conventional and intermodal trains, we also provide complex logistics services. Our portfolio includes warehousing, road transport organization, customs administration, container handling, and railcar loading. At our self-operated container terminals in Sopron and Debrecen, we ensure the flexible handling of intermodal transport units through a wide range of services.
We continuously expand our resources to meet the ever-increasing quality requirements of the logistics sector. We are constantly developing our equipment, technology, and human resources to maintain the highest service standards.
Introducing
Debrecen Intermodal Terminal
The Debrecen Intermodal Terminal, operated by GYSEV CARGO Zrt., will play a unique role in Eastern Hungary from 2025 as an open-access combined transport terminal.
The terminal's service portfolio focuses on both traditional rail freight projects and the handling of unaccompanied transport units—such as containers, swap bodies, and semi-trailers—by providing lifting, loading, storage, and various other logistical and commercial support services.
Located in the Northwest Economic Zone of Debrecen, this facility is designed to establish a key road-rail connection for freight flows between Eastern Hungary and Western Romania, as well as serving as a domestic hub for block train connections between European ports, hinterland terminals, and economic centers.
Parameters
Introduce of Intermodal Terminal Debrecen
The total area of the terminal available for container and semi-trailer handling and storage is 76,118 m². The area between tracks R I – R II and Track III covers 51,611 m², while the space beyond Track R V, under the gantry crane, extending to Track R VI, measures 24,507 m².
By the completion of the terminal, a total of seven tracks will be available, out of which five have already been constructed. The most important aspect regarding track lengths is that we can handle an entire train on a single track, significantly speeding up the loading process.
The number of gantry cranes is two; their procurement will be carried out in different construction phases.
Operations will commence with a mobile stacker, specifically a reach stacker.
The terminal will be operated using a Terminal Operating System (TOS).
Tracks for road vehicle loading:
Track R I: 650 m
Track R II: 650 m
Crane-accessible tracks:
Track R III: 780 m
Track R IV: 787 m
Track R V: 780 m
Track R VI: 780 m (planned)
Track R VII: 757 m (planned)
Notes:
Tracks R VI and R VII will be available from Q2 2026.
Tracks R IV and R VII will be operational following the installation of gantry cranes (planned for 2027).
Container handling (lifting operations): 750 lifts per day
Storage capacity: Maximum 2,952 TEU
Access to the terminal area is possible through the OCR gate. These gates, integrated with the Terminal Operating System (TOS), will operate in coordination with the terminal's operations and handling processes.
We will be capable of storing and handling dangerous goods. The specific categories of these goods will be defined at a later stage.
Our office building is located outside the terminal area, adjacent to the OCR gate, and it will be commissioned in the summer of 2025.
